Open A Case

What makes Fran different from other attorneys is that she is both an attorney and a social worker (MSW). This combined background gives her unique insight into the interface of Law and Psychology, as well as the complex ethical and legal issues that arise in clinical practice for counselors of all disciplines.

Your Justice Is My Priority

Frances Schopick, JD, MSW is an attorney with an extensive background in Psychology and Social Work. She has served on the Faculties of the Departments of Psychiatry at both Icahn School of Medicine (formerly known as Mount Sinai School of Medicine) in NYC, and Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA.

Now an attorney in WA State, Ms. Schopick represents healthcare licensees with Department of Health (DOH) complaints as well as attorneys with WSBA Bar complaints where healthcare issues may be involved. She also consults for witness prep for deposition and trial. A good part of her practice includes providing consultation and continuing education presentations to professionals in the mental health (CEU) and legal (CLE) communities. Presentations have been to psychologists, counselors, attorneys, commissioners, magistrates, and judges. She speaks nationally for counselor and judicial conferences, State Employee Assistance Programs, and other programs on legal and mental health topics.

She completed her AB at Barnard College at Columbia University in New York City, a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) at the Hunter College School of Social Work in NYC, and a Juris Doctor (JD) at the University of New Hampshire.

In Their Own Words

I took the Records Keeping class from Frances Schopick. The class answered so many sticky questions that have caused me stress over years of private practice. Referring back to this class constantly informs me in making good decisions in record keeping, client selection, and preemptive measures in private practice with a variety of clients. Things are more complex when working with children and families. I wish I had had this information and the confidence it gave me much sooner. The class was worth every penny! Frances Schopick’ s CLE presentation went beyond being informative, relevant and engaging by going into the surprising, insightful and valuable. Many CLE presenters are informative, professional, and dull as dust. Ms. Schopick’ s presentation, however, had star quality combined with skill at infusing important and timely topics with insight and humor! Five Star! David Talbert Huber, Attorney & Counselor at Law.

Thank you Frances for the very informative training last week through my agency. I think that over my 40-year career that your training was the best law and ethics training I have ever attended. (I have been to quite a few!)
